Volunteer run, non profit organization, with over 4 decades of service.
We serve as a rapid response mutual aid unit across the northern and central California regions as a resource of the California Office of Emergency Services.
California Search and Rescue (CALSAR) is a volunteer search and rescue team based in the San Francisco Bay Area. We respond to searches throughout California.
Operating under the direction of the California Office of Emergency Services, CALSAR consists of members who volunteer their services and dedicate their time. CALSAR is a charter member of the Bay Area Search & Rescue Council, and serves as a SAR and training resource.
Check out this short video about who we are, what we do, and why we do it.
We are CALSAR – always ready, always there.
CALSAR is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that is prepared to respond 24/7/365. All team members provide their own equipment and transportation, and take time from work to perform searches and training.
Please consider supporting us! We are a dedicated non-profit search and rescue team and your generosity will help us maintain our resources and ability to respond to call outs. Donations go towards maintenance and supplies, and also replacing obsolete communications, rescue, and medical equipment.
CALSAR is listed as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the Internal Revenue Service and all donations are tax deductible.
